I had hopes that the ERwin feature to "Check Naming Standards Compliance—in particular, the "Check Word Order and Position" option—would have the flexibility to ignore "optional" name parts. The naming standard I am using requires that an attribute have both a prime word and a class word, but modifiers are optional. Examples of attribute names which conform to this standard include "Person Identifier" ("Person" is the prime word, "Identifier" is the class word) and "Person First Name" ("Person" is the prime word, "First" is the modifying word, "Name" is the class word). Unfortunately, optional name parts are not supported by ERwin. ERwin support does not consider this a defect, but an enhancement request.
Has anyone who uses a similar naming standard developed a workaround for checking word order based on a classification of words (Prime, Modifier 1, Modifier 2, Class) in the glossary? Is there any support for this "enhancement" from the ERwin Community?
