Problem Description:
I try to start the Mart Server service and Windows responds:
'Windows could not start the erwin Mart Server on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 4.
Solution:
It is most likely because the JRE_HOME environment variable is set incorrectly. In this case, it was set to the JRE in the JDK folder of the Java installed on the end user's machine. So we changed the JRE_HOME to point to the correct folder. For example, on a working environment, it is 'JRE_HOME=C:\Program Files\erwin\Mart Server r9\OpenJRE64' . We also removed the Mart Configuration file MartConfiguration.config that resides at 'C:\ProgramData\erwin\Mart Server' and reconfigured the Mart Server. Then the mart server service could be started successfully.
NOTE: Make sure you screenshot the mart configure window before deleting any files so you know what to type into it when you reconfigure.
One customer resolved this by uninstalling and reinstalling and choosing to reboot each time.
