If you have an erwin DM 9.8 license and you upgrade to erwin DM 2018 R1 and later, you do not need a new license, but you do need active maintenance.
To check whether or not you have active maintenance, launch erwin DM 9.8, go to Help | Licensing, and verify the date of the Maintenance End Date.
If the Maintenance End Date is the same or earlier than April 1, 2019, or if there is no maintenance date in this field, do not run the upgrade to erwin DM 2018 R1 as it will overwrite your 9.8 installation but the application will not run when you attempt to launch erwin DM 2018 R1.
An expired Maintenance End Date means that you do not have active Maintenance and cannot upgrade your erwin DM 9.8 to erwin DM 2018 R1. If you believe you have active maintenance but do not see a date later than September 21, 2018, please contact your salesperson.
In the US, call (800) 783-7946 or contact one of our channel partners. For international numbers and contact points, please see the Contact section at the bottom of the page on http://erwin.com.
If you have already installed erwin DM 2018 R1 and have an expired Maintenance End Date, you will see the message below when you attempt to launch erwin DM 2018 R1.
Please contact erwin Sales or one of our Channel Partners to renew your maintenance, or uninstall erwin DM 2018 R1 and reinstall erwin DM 9.8.
