Problem cause: a registry change was released by Microsoft for a vulnerability that is described as an unexpected behavior Microsoft observed when enabling system-wide mandatory Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) using Windows Defender Exploit Guard (WDEG) and EMET on Windows 8 and above. When the below registry change is made to the Windows 10 machine, then erwin DM consistently crashes:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\kernel]
"MitigationOptions"=hex:00,01,01,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00
You may read more details about that here: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/srd/2017/11/21/clarifying-the-behavior-of-mandatory-aslr/
erwin Development is presently working on a solution for this problem.
Workaround: when the registry change is removed, erwin DM no longer crashes. Please remove the registry change as below (figure 1) and Level One Support should have a solution for this problem within a few week's time.
