The erwin Spy application visualizes metadata information and provides intrinsic and
model-specific metadata. It demonstrates the API functionality and provides a set of
useful features to study how model data is stored. erwin Spy reads the erwin DM
metamodel and simplifies the task of comprehending the intricate details of any erwin
DM model, which can be a complicated net of model objects, properties, and
cross-references. When you install erwin DM, you can choose to install the optional
erwin Spy utility.
Here is how to enable the erwin Spy functionality in erwin Data Modeler:
Open a model
Go to the menu Tools | Add Ins | Manage
Press the button Add Menu Item (figure 1).

Some Best Practices when using erwin Spy:
Other than the mandatory fields, erwin spy will only show the fields which are set in the model being investigated. The table/object must contain the property data to see it in erwin Spy (e.g. comments).
If the amount of data in erwin spy appears overwhelming, please derive or create a smaller model containing just the data you want to observe (a smaller set of data) and then it will be easier to observe that metadata in erwin spy.
