How is the CA ERwin Web Portal automatically and efficiently refreshed from any updates in the CA... - CA Technologies ERwin Knowledge Base
Description: How is the erwin Web Portal automatically and efficiently refreshed from any updates in the erwin DM Workgroup Edition mart? Solution: erwin Web Portal can automatically harvest metadata from the erwin Mart which is a metadata repository of erwin models. an erwin Mart can be rather large, therefore the first metadata harvesting can take some time. However, further automatic updates / refreshes from the erwin Mart will be fast because the Meta Integration Bridge maintains a metadata cache in its Data folder (generally in Program Data on the Application Server machine). The Meta Integration Bridge reuses this metadata cache, and ensures that models are only extracted and imported again if there has been a change in that particular model in the source (i.e. erwin Mart). Put another way, after the first harvest of metadata from a Mart, subsequent harvests will only extract those models which been updated since the last harvest. To support incremental harvesting, the Data folder contains a cache of the last harvested models in order to determine if updates have occurred. If that folder is deleted or cleared out, the next subsequent import (for each model already defined in the Portal) will require a complete re-harvest. After that, incremental harvesting will again be in force. |
