Description:
I've applied a new license to erwin DM. Before that change our site ID appeared on the "About erwin Data Modeler" page. Now it shows as 0000. That has become our reference point for the site ID. Is there any way we can get that back?
Solution:
The answer is that when erwin Data Modeler r9.x opens, it looks in the license folder (the location of the folder varies with each operating system) with a single digit name "9" for erwin Data Modeler version r9.x, on Windows 7 systems that would be C:\ProgramData\Application Data\CA\ERwin Data Modeler\9) for the first valid license it can find for the site ID.
erwin DM looks inside the license files, not at the name. However the files are stored alphabetically by name in that folder. If you happen to have a Community Edition license in that folder and it sorts ahead of any other valid licenses that you have, then you will get 0000 in your site ID since 0000 is always the site ID when using the Community edition. I renamed the Community edition license by prefixing the filename with zzz. After doing so, I reopened erwin and my correct site ID was displayed.
