Description: when trying to add a concurrent license to License Server, I am getting the error: "Unable to reread license files for vendor: erwinmod.".
Why is that happening?
Scenario 1: the Concurrent License has expired.
Verify the date by opening the Concurrent license file in a text editor (e.g. Notepad.exe) and look at the line:
INCREMENT erwinDM erwinmod 9.00 08-nov-2013 uncounted HOSTID=ANY \.
If the license is expired, please delete the existing Concurrent license File, copy and paste to the machine the new license file, and try importing the license again in the License Server Administrator.
Scenario 2: there are other software packages that also use the Flexera software as their engine.
To determine if there are other software packages that also use Flexera, please check the log file erwinmod.log that is found in the directory,
C:\Program Files (x86)\CA\CA erwin DM License Administrator\logs
or C:\Program Files (x86)\erwin\DM License Administrator\logs for r9.7
That may show the error,
(erwinmod) EXITING DUE TO SIGNAL 32 reason 9
that error means
- Another copy of the license server manager (lmgrd or lmadmin) is running.
- Another copy of the mvsn vendor daemon is running.
Meaning there are one or more other software packages running on the same machine as the erwin License Administrator that also use the Flexera licensing engine.
Please check the Windows Task Manager | Processes to see if any of the above executables are running in addition to the lmadmin.exe Flexera Software, Inc. that the erwin DM License Administrator uses.
If do you have conflicting multiple executables, you can right click them in the Windows Task Manager processes list to Open File location and discover the other software that is running that also uses Flexera.
The solution would be to then either,
- a) Stop the other software
- b) OR Install the erwin License Administrator software on a different machine
