Description:
When opening a model or navigating a model, you may see a GDM-46, GDM-129, GDM-1001, or a GDM-36 warning message, like in the screenshot below.
You may also see these errors when running a query using the ODBC query tool, like in the example below:
03/29 09:18:27 GDM-46 WARNING:
03/29 09:21:44 GDM-1001 FATAL: Could not find an expected object on the No Delete list.
03/29 09:24:10 GDM-129 WARNING:
03/29 09:28:59 GDM-1001 FATAL: Could not find an expected object on the No Delete list.
One time after clicking OK twice, the query ran successfully.
Solution:
GDM errors basically mean 'General Data Modeling' engine. Erwin run's thousands of modeling rules when it opens or converts a model. So one or more of the rules failed. Due to the complexity, the specific rules are not all documented, and the errors tend to be generic, but for the most part, are all related to some form of corruption in the model.
The below Complete Compare with a blank model process can be used to clean problematic models:
If the above process does not help or if you are unsure if you are doing it correctly, please contact erwin Support and we will be glad to assist.
