Error Message: A license for erwin DM could not be obtained. The application will shut down. Message: License server machine is down or not responding. If you think this is in error, please contact Technical Support... Error codes: 7(-96,491,0)
This problem may occur due to slow communications. One way to resolve is to increase network bandwidth or reduce latency to an acceptable level so the erwin DM License Administrator can function correctly. If increasing network bandwidth is not an option, you can increase the amount of time erwin DM waits for a response from the license manager by configuring an environment variable at the client workstation. Please follow these steps:
If you are able to obtain a license, the value of 15000000 microseconds (15 seconds) is sufficient. If you still cannot obtain a license, please repeat the procedure; increasing the value in 1000000-microsecond increments until you are able to obtain a license from the license server.
NOTE: one customer who used the solution remarked they created the variable FLEXLM_TIMEOUT and tried with 15000000 , 16000000 … , 55000000 and 99000000 – and it was initially working on 99000000. Then they reverted back to back to 15000000 and it is finally working(connecting) with that 15000000 value. So you may need to play around with the setting a bit to optimize it.
