This section is for those users going from version 2.x of the plug-in to version 4.x of the plug-in
IMPORTANT: If upgrading to Corso ArchiMate Plug-in v4.x you will need to be using Rational System Architect v11.4.3 or later
1. Open the encyclopedia
2. Select Yes to upgrade
3. If asked, Click No to the defaults (you may not see this step)
4. Re-select any property sets that were applied to the encyclopedia (you may not see this step)
The encyclopedia will open
System Architect will now remember that ArchiMate is applied to the encyclopedia – If asked to import the wizard and roadmapping definitions, select No
5. A dialog will be presented telling you that the version of ArchiMate installed is different to the version that the encyclopedia is configured for – Just a notification/suggestion that you should run the Configure option at some point
As we have installed a new ArchiMate version, we will need to re-configure the metamodel of the encyclopedia for the new ArchiMate configuration files to be applied
6. Go to Tools > ArchiMate > Configure Encyclopedia for ArchiMate
7. Select Yes
8. Select Yes
9. The encyclopedia will re-open
Important: Selecting Yes to this action in v4 of the plug-in will remove all of the wizard relations that apply to the method wizard and replace them with new versions that match the new metamodel
- Before completing this task, we suggest using the xml export feature to create a copy of any user created wizard relations that can be added back in after the upgrade and then updated by users to match the new metamodel where needed
10. Select Yes, this will import the definitions needed for the Method Wizard
– This can take a few minutes (this will depend on the size of the encyclopedia)
If you are using a workspaced encyclopedia, then you will be presented with an import option (as above)
11. Choose the option that suits your usage
Note: If you select No, then the import task needs to be performed the first time each of the other non-baselined workspaces are opened after upgrade
12. If the encyclopedia has Roadmapping enabled, you will also be asked to import the Roadmapping definitions, select Yes
If you are using a workspaced encyclopedia, then you will be presented with an import option (as above)
13. Choose the option that suits your usage
Note: If you select No, then the import task needs to be performed the first time each of the other non-baselined workspaces are opened after upgrade
Once the encyclopedia has been upgraded from version 2 there is a manual migration of Programme Timeline diagrams
Once the encyclopedia has been upgraded to version 4 there is a transfer of relationships to the v4 metamodel
Please see the 'Migration after Encyclopedia Upgrade' section and the 'Transferring Relationships' here.
