Problem: I am running the shortcut but I can't create the mart server service. I also tried right-clicking the shortcut and choosing Run As Administrator...
SOLUTION NO. 1: r9.7 and earlier users
When the Java_home environment variable is set on a computer it is not possible to run the shortcut to create the mart server service.
How to fix it?
The user must temporarily remove the variable Java_home in order to create the mart server service.
NOTE: we have fixed this in future releases of the mart server and r9.8 version will include this fix so the user no longer needs to temporarily remove the java_home environment variable to create the mart server service.
SOLUTION NO. 2: r9.7 and LATER users
Another potential cause of this problem is if the old mart server service still exists on the machine.
Please go to an elevated DOS prompt (right click the DOS shortcut and choose Run as Administrator)
Then type,
sc delete MartServer
Now you should be able to create the MartServer service.
Right-click the shortcut 'Create MartServer service' and choose Run As Administrator.
That should create a new service named 'erwin Mart Server'.
