Q: The erwin 9.7 DM install tells me I need a license to run the product. I don’t have one. How can I get an erwin license?
If you cannot run erwin and the following error appears, please follow the instructions on this document.
Solution:
In r9.7, there is no Evaluation license or Community Edition license, so if you try to launch erwin without a valid license, you will get the above error and it will close.
This means that you need to open a request with our Support Team to get a license file.
To open a License Request Ticket, go to support.erwin.com and click on:
Or simply follow the link: https://erwinhelp.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=431568
Please provide the Ethernet MAC address information, version of erwin, type of license, Order ID and Customer ID.
To get the MAC address information, please launch erwin and click on Display Host Info.
The following dialog will come up:
erwin always recognizes the Ethernet MAC address, so that is the one that should be provided in the ticket.
After you submit your request, a ticket will be created and one of our agents will generate the new license file and send it over to you via e-mail.
When you have the license file, launch erwin again and click on Install License File:
Locate the folder where you saved the license file on and click ok.
You can also open the Windows Explorer window with the location of the file, right click on it and choose properties and copy the file location so you can navigate directly to it.
You will get the following message saying that the license file was successfully moved to the data directory.
The default directory for licenses on erwin r9.7 is C:\ProgramData\erwin\Data Modeler\9
Click OK and OK again to launch erwin.
