Error Message:
Error: The Program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
Description:
When exporting to Microsoft Excel from External format (Metaintegration Bridge) I received the error “The Program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem”
Solution:
MSVCR71.dll is a Microsoft Visual C Runtime and that is bundled with the .NET Framework. ERwin uses the .net framework and probably that was not installed successfully. Possible causes and solutions include:
- Not installing ERwin as the Computer Administrator/Not a local member administrator, and sometimes the windows Administrator Group does not have sufficient rights. So please reinstall ERwin as the local windows user that is named administrator.
- If the reinstallation does not work then place the msvcr71.dll into to your system directory. Please contact your local help desk to help you with that.
- By default, the system directory according to your operating system is:
C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98)
C:\WINNT\System32 (Windows NT/2000)
C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP, Vista, 7, win 8)
If you use a 64-bit version of Windows, you should also place the .dll into C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
Make sure to overwrite existing files (but make a backup copy of the original file for safety). Reboot your computer.
