Description: where are the log files for the r9 mart located?
Solution:
- Depending upon your windows OS, the log file application.log will be generated in the folder,
Windows XP: {user.home}/Local Settings/Application Data/CA/ERwin Mart Server/logs/application.log
e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\CA\ERwin Mart Server\logs
Windows 2003:
c:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\CA\ERwin Mart Server\logs
Windows 7:
{user.home}/AppData/Local/CA/ERwin Mart Server/logs/application.log
e.g. C:\Local Settings\Application Data\CA\ERwin Mart Server\logs
Note: erwin 9.7 has it at {user.home}\AppData\Local\erwin\Mart Server\logs.
NOTE: sometimes data is also logged into a file called MartServerUpgrade.log that is kept in the directory C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\erwin\Mart Server\logs. So it is beneficial to check that file for messages also.
Note: erwin 9.7 has it at {user.home}\AppData\Local\erwin\Mart Server\logs.
- Here is where the Tomcat logs are located:
(ERwin Mart Server install directory) \Tomcat\logs
NOTE2: the Configure MartServer window stores its data in an XML file named MartConfiguration.config and that is usually located in the folder C:\ProgramData\CA\ERwin Mart Server\
On a Windows 2008 64 bit OS system, MartConfiguration.config was found to instead be located in the folder
c:\users\username\AppData\Local\CA\ERwin Mart Server\logs
Where you would replace 'username' with the name of the user who installed the mart server software.
*) in r9.7 mart server the file MartConfiguration.config is located in C:\ProgramData\erwin\Mart Server
NOTE3: if the log files are not generating, try the following:
Approach 1:
- Edit the log4j.xml file and change Priority value from error to debug. Also change the file location from the default directory to c:\logs
- Restart the mart server
If approach 1, does not do it, please try approach no. 2:
Stop the Mart Server, delete the MartServer folder from C:\Program Files\CA\ERwin Mart Server r9\Tomcat64\webapps\, and Restart the Mart Server.
