Description:
I would like to make lots of changes in a rather large model. Making changes directly in Bulk Editor are cumbersome. How to use the Bulk Editor to make changes externally and import them back?
Solution:
You can do so by creating your own report of objects and properties in a model using the Bulk Editor. That result set can then either be modified within Bulk Editor, or alternately exported as a CSV file, modified it using MS Excel (or any editor to work with CSV format) and imported back to the model. Here are the steps to do so.
- In the Bulk Editor, click the Bulk Editor Wizard button
on the Bulk Editor toolbar.
Make your selections in the Bulk Editor Wizard in each of the panes. This is what determines the objects and properties that display in the Bulk Editor. You can choose to report on all model objects and properties, or restrict items to report on, such as only domains, or only attributes. In this example, the objects are restricted to only database roles.

- Make your selections in the User Settings pane and click the Edit button.
The data displays in the Bulk Editor according to the preferences you set in the Bulk Editor Wizard. Use the save icon to save icon to save this information to a CSV format. Please note that you will also be prompted whether to save just the selected rows ; click NO to save ALL rows.
- Open this file in Microsoft Excel for editing, saving, and printing and re-importing using the "Import model updates from .csv file"
